AWARDS
Consistent with the availability of funds, the following awards shall be made annually to applicants who meet the eligibility criteria along with other scholarship objectives, with financial need being the primary criteria.
The scholarship benefits are applicable to tuition, other curriculum expense, and related costs as administered by the educational institution attended by the scholarship recipient.
AMEENE GEORGE. MAKDAD, M.D. SCHOLARSHIP
This primary scholarship is in honor of Ameene G. Makdad, M.D. whose service to Community Nursing Service in Greensburg, Inc. (CNS) began in 1955 as a board member. He became Medical Director and President of the Board of Directors in 1977. Dr. Makdad served in this capacity until the suspension of nursing operations in 1993. He was instrumental in continuing the mission of CNS and initiating the scholarship program. The Ameene George Makdad, M.D. Scholarship is a financial grant in the amount of $8,000 yearly to one applicant, renewable for three (3) years and is subject to meeting academic progress, need and maintaining a healthcare major.
ROBERT VAN ATTA HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP
The secondary scholarship award of $6,000.00 yearly is in honor of Robert B. Van Atta whose long years of service as a historian, secretary and president of the Board of Directors, along with his extensive college scholarship experience, was invaluable to the organization. This scholarship is renewable for three (3) additional years and subject to meeting academic progress, need and maintaining a healthcare major.
ADDITIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
Additional scholarships in the amount of $4,000 yearly may be awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors. This scholarship is renewable for three (3) additional years subject to meeting academic progress, need and maintaining a healthcare major.

Other awards may be made in the form of a one (1) year grant, based on the requirements and conditions previously set forth, the amount to be determined by the Board of Directors.
